I hope this message finds you well during your daily whirlwind of tasks and responsibilities.
I am reaching out to you today to talk about an important yet rarely discussed topic: Putting Mom First.
Before you decide to stop reading, I want to ask you one thing, "When was the last time you put yourself first?" This isn't about selfishness or lack of care for our loved ones. It's more about acknowledging one simple truth - that our ability to love and support others is deeply intertwined with how we treat and care for ourselves.
In our constant effort to give the best to our children, partners, family, friends, and career, it's easy to lose ourselves. Somewhere along the way, we've attached guilt and negativity to the idea of prioritizing our needs and wellness. But why do we deem putting ourselves first as a bad thing?
Just like how a car needs fuel to run or a phone needs a charge to function, we also need to replenish ourselves, physically, emotionally, and mentally. If we’re always running on empty, we can’t be there fully for the ones we love. That little piece of wisdom on airplanes about securing our oxygen masks before helping others applies on the ground too.
It’s like the circle of life. One event must happen for the other to occur. Yet, too often, we remove ourselves from this circle, not understanding that our well-being is part of the same flow.
So, I encourage you, beleaguered and loving moms, the next time you're about to put your needs last, remember how integral you are to the circle of life. Remember that it's not just okay, but necessary to prioritize your well-being. After all, the healthier and happier you are, the better you can nurture your loved ones.
And lastly, remember that it's okay to ask for help. The strongest among us understand the power of community, the need to lean on others when we're feeling overwhelmed.
You're doing an amazing job, and you deserve to have a place in the circle too. So this is a gentle reminder - Put Mom First.
Take care,
